The Indoor/Outdoor life
"When we thought about designing Capella, and the lifestyle, and the human scale element of living at Capella, the first homes start on the third floor. We've got homes starting 30 feet in the air when you come into the community and look to your left and look to your right you're going to see all the natural landscaping, all the rock outcroppings, all the views and vistas through all aspects.
"And I think that is what Capella is coming across to all of us, is that you arrive in BC and there is the modern society that embraces you. And you can go home to what is something old and something new and to be able to drive past a vineyard before you hit your front door. I think that is luxury to the seventh degree.
"I can't say where I have ever seen magnificent architecture pushed on a mountain surrounded by vineyards. I mean just the whole concept, it's truly, you know, a mountain resort but in a way I have never seen done before.
"One thing is very, very apparent. Space. You do not have anything short of it. And I think that the vastness of space, the continuity of the living, to the dining, to the study, to the decks, is very seamless. Because we design around our philosophy of comfortable minimalism, there is very little that has been added as a result of current times, or current fads, or current philosophies. He does not want to see a column if he can avoid it. I think he is a modernist, but he likes things really classic, tailored, you know, pretty timeless. He is not about fashion. And to me, I think, this will be very apparent to the homeowner.
"Wall to wall hardwood floors, we've got floor to ceiling glass. You come into your home you've got the luxury kitchen with mainlay appliances overlooking the view that's spectacular. The scale, proportion, color balance is all there when you walk in and it just...you get the feeling when you walk in that's like this is a really special place.
"The next stage of evolution for us is really creating lifestyle communities where we're incorporating a complete lifestyle component. We've talked about spas, we'll have a great restaurant and winery, so you should just understand that you're getting a great home, but now its about that great home being accompanied by a complete community that works for you."
